The Truth About Halloween

According to Scripture, there is a time for everything. There is “a time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted; A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up;” (Ecclesiastes 3:2-3).

Likewise, I believe there is a time to share with you messages that give us a warm, fuzzy feeling inside, and a time to share messages that have the potential to ruffle a few feathers. Today somebody shared these videos with me, and I felt compelled to share them with you as well, even though some of you may not agree with me. Even if you can already tell where this post is headed, I’m asking that you please take the time to watch the below videos – even if you’ve already made up your mind to disagree. If you don’t watch each one, you’re going to miss it. They were a huge eye-opener for me, and I hope they are for you as well.

I kind of had an idea of the background of Halloween, but these videos definitely put the whole day into perspective. Thanks for sharing this Dakota.

Hi Dakota, I really do not think that people here in North America realize the heritage of Halloween. I was not able to watch these links as our internet can be really slooooow, but I think I know what they say. :)

Years ago my sister sent me a tape on the 'spirits of Halloween' and I tell you it was really scary to see that parents will dress their children up in costumes that represent evil spirits. We, in our lack of knowledge, are honoring these spirits by taking part in the celebration of all Hallows Eve.

Exactly! As Carol Cornackey pointed out in these videos, many Christian parents seem to think celebrating Halloween is no big deal if you just make sure to send your child out as an angel, shepherd, etc. But the fact remains that Halloween is a celebration of evil and (for many) a night of intentional worship to Satan that Christians should have no part in. In my opinion, celebrating Halloween would be no different than celebrating the birthday of Islam's prophet Mohammed, and we wouldn't dream of doing anything like that!

"Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin."

While I believe God is displeased with the celebration of Halloween regardless of any person's lack of knowledge concerning it, it is even worse when you continue to honor this day knowing full well what it is truly about. A holiday that nearly every witch and warlock look forward to with great anticipation should automatically trigger a red flag in the heart of every Christian.

Very well put! You know you can take this a few steps further.....You look at the 'whatever verse' Philippians 4:8
Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.

If we focus our mind on bad book, tv shows, movies and thoughts then we are not honoring God but in truth honoring satan. If you wouldn't let a child watch or read it then we should't either. A thought becomes a word, words become actions, actions become habits, habits become character and your character becomes you.

When my buy books or wants to watch a movie we make sure that we can apply the 'whatever verse' to it. If it falls short of this then it is good to leave it alone.
